PPG is looking for an
Operations Coordinator
to join the team! This role is perfect for a proactive professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and takes pride in maintaining operational excellence across multiple functional areas. You will support plant leadership by providing advanced administrative, training, and organizational support in a manufacturing environment. This role is critical to daily operations, employee communication, safety initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts. You will report to the Plant Manager at our Cedar Falls, Iowa Plant.
Quality & Compliance Management
Execute work orders quality assurance and Gemba initiatives
Review and validate all safety permits (PTW, LOTO, Elevated Work) ensuring 100% compliance
Maintain comprehensive HR and safety filing systems
Monitor and update safety metrics, observations, and compliance boards
Facility & Resource Management
Oversee facility cleanliness and organization including breakrooms, office spaces, and outdoor areas
Manage inventory systems for office supplies, safety equipment, and employee apparel
Coordinate with vendors for facility maintenance and special orders
Implement and track 5S methodologies throughout the plant
Employee Engagement & Communications
Coordinate employee recognition programs and maintain communication boards
Facilitate all-staff meeting presentations and training coordination
Manage employee suggestion programs and feedback systems
Plan and execute special events, holiday celebrations, and team-building activities
Administrative Excellence
Maintain accurate employee records and headcount tracking
Generate quotes using MITS system and coordinate with Plant Manager for approvals
Create and administer training programs including video-based content
Maintain and troubleshoot plant communication systems and displays
Project Coordination
Collaborate with maintenance teams to track work order completion
Coordinate with multiple departments to ensure seamless operations
Manage procurement processes and vendor relationships
Support continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in administrative coordination, preferably in manufacturing
High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems
Strong understanding of safety protocols and compliance requirements
Preferred:
Experience with manufacturing operations or industrial environments
Knowledge of 5S methodology and continuous improvement practices
Project management certification or experience
Familiarity with safety management systems and permit processes
