Job Summary
The Billing Specialist III serves as a primary contact/resource for all aspects of the revenue cycle, provides training to new employees and BestCare staff including “shoulder-to-shoulder” training, completes special project work and reporting as needed.

Essential Functions

Serves as a subject‑matter expert for the Billing staff to provide training and help resolve issues.

Develops training documents and provides training to new BestCare staff.

Serves as a primary contact and resource for all BestCare sites on all aspects of the revenue cycle, including coding, billing, and documentation best practices.

Primarily responsibility to provide revenue‑cycle reporting.

Completes special projects as assigned.

May be required to perform billing functions of other Billing staff, as needed.

Other related duties as assigned.

Performs other organizational duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Associate’s degree in related field or HSD/GED and equivalent in related education/experience

Minimum 4 years of experience with Epic software systems

Minimum 4 years of experience with revenue cycle billing

Preferred

Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus

Required Competencies
Must have demonstrated competency or ability to attain competency for each of the following within a reasonable period:

Proficiency in Epic Software Systems

High proficiency in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook), databases, virtual meeting platforms, internet, and ability to learn new or updated software

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the full Revenue Cycle, demonstrated understanding of billing private insurance carriers (e.g. Pacific Source, Medicaid, etc.), familiarity with CMS billing rules and associated billing requirements

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

Strong communication skills (oral and written)

Strong organizational skills, scheduling, and attention to detail, accuracy, and follow‑through

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

Critical thinking skills

Understand of and ability to maintain strict confidence as required by HIPAA, 42 CFR, and Oregon Statutes

Ability to build and maintain positive relationships

Ability to function well and use good judgment in a high‑paced and at times stressful environment

Ability to manage conflict resolution and anger/fear/hostility/violence of others appropriately and effectively

Ability to work effectively and respectfully in a diverse, multi‑cultural environment

Ability to work independently as well as participate as a positive, collaborative team member.

Computer/laptop, copy/fax/scanning machines, printer, telephone or multi‑line phone.

Work Environment / Physical Demands
Hybrid position with mostly remote work (in Oregon) and some in‑person required. Primarily indoors (95%)

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer/laptop, with occasional standing and walking

Exerts force or lifts/carries up to 10‑20 pounds at times

Occasional grasping/squeezing and reaching above or below shoulder‑level
