BASIC PURPOSE
The Area Business Development Manager will be responsible for prospecting and closing new account business within assigned area. The focus will be on accounts signed up through our Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) partners. The role will help the area achieve growth objectives and is expected to exceed revenue and profit targets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Promote and sell products, services and solutions to potential customers through our GPO partner programs.

Produce new account revenue in line with organization and individual targets for the area.

Identify key targets, align with RVP National Sales and Area VP, and track pipeline to move customers through the sales cycle.

Coordinate organizational resources for value proposition and onboarding—including Finance, Operations, Merchandising, and Logistics—to ensure a smooth transition to Account Executives and Sales & Service Directors.

Attend training and embrace sales processes, documentation, and reporting for GPO programs.

Serve as a GPO partner expert to ensure selling practices stay within contractual boundaries.

Monitor and evaluate sales training programs and recommend enhancements to improve effectiveness.

Assist senior sales leadership in developing objectives and strategies to maximize profitability.

Frequent overnight travel is required.

SUPERVISION
None

RELATIONSHIPS
Internal: Direct contact with senior level staff and sales associates throughout the organization.

External: Executive level of potential customers.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training: Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent work experience is required.

Minimum 7 years of success in selling new accounts or dramatically increasing penetration of existing accounts, preferably in the foodservice industry. Must have prior demonstrated success in new business development sales through intermediaries.

Overnight travel may be required for training, meetings, or other company events.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships internally and externally, leverage relations to achieve business goals, and work in a matrix environment. Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills, strong follow‑through, and ability to work under pressure meeting deadlines. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Ability to follow a consistent sales methodology and a track record for closing sales.

Compensation
Expected base rate: $75,000 – $125,000.
