Location: Visalia, California
Compensation: $33–$37/hour + benefits
Travel: Regional travel required
About The Role
The Lead Field Service Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and longevity of commercial solar PV systems. This individual will lead field-level service execution, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs, while mentoring junior technicians and maintaining high safety and quality standards.
This is a hands-on, field-based position ideal for a strong electrical technician who enjoys problem-solving, autonomy, and working across multiple project sites.
Key Responsibilities
Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on commercial solar PV systems
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and system performance issues, including inverters, switchgear, and communications systems
Execute repairs, replacements, and system upgrades in a safe and code-compliant manner
Interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and construction documents to plan and execute work
Complete installations including conduit, wiring, terminations, and equipment setup
Respond to occasional emergency service calls
Prepare daily field reports, including detailed documentation of issues and resolutions
Coordinate with internal teams, customers, and vendors to ensure seamless service delivery
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior technicians and trainees
Maintain company vehicle, tools, and safety equipment in excellent condition
Qualifications
5–10 years of experience in electrical, construction, or related technical field
Strong troubleshooting experience with electrical systems and components
Ability to install, repair, and maintain electrical distribution systems (transformers, panels, switchboards, etc.)
Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and technical documentation
Familiarity with low-voltage systems, communications, and controls (PLC experience is a plus)
Proficient with digital reporting tools, mobile devices, and standard software platforms
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
OSHA 10 or 30 certification (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to lift heavy equipment and perform physically demanding work in field environments
Preferred Experience
Solar O&M and service experience, including inverter platforms (SMA, Chint, Delta, etc.)
Experience with monitoring systems (AlsoEnergy PowerTrack or similar)
NFPA 70E certification
Experience with ERP, ticketing, or service management systems
Leadership & Work Style
