Accounting Manager, General Ledger

Position Summary
The Accounting Manager, General Ledger will lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close accounting processes, which includes preparation and review of journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations for both consolidated and non‑consolidated legal entities. In addition, the Accounting Manager, General Ledger will review and approve calculations of intercompany agreements, royalties, bonuses and commissions.

Duties And Responsibilities

Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and administer salary adjustments. Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.

Review journal entries and related supporting documentation to ensure the entries are correct and properly supported.

Ensure accounting records conform with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Evaluate new or existing accounting guidance as needed.

Assist with documenting the Company’s accounting policies and procedures.

Ensure compliance over financial internal controls.

Review monthly account reconciliations and validate the accuracy of account balances.

Research and resolve account discrepancies on a timely basis.

Provide appropriate supporting documentation for account balances.

Supervise the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports.

Analyze financial statements and explain variances in the financial results as compared to prior periods.

Supervise monthly consolidation eliminations and ensure accuracy.

Lead monthly P&L fluctuation analysis with the leadership team.

Coordinate with Finance Operations, Legal and Tax to ensure intercompany agreements are updated for changes to company operations.

Review intercompany agreements, royalty, bonus and commission calculations to ensure amounts are correct and in compliance with legal documents and/or company policy.

Review related party transactions and ensure intercompany relationships are properly eliminated in consolidation.

Review monthly, quarterly and annual debt compliance schedules to ensure they are accurate and in accordance with loan documentation.

Supervise revenue allocations for bundled performance obligations in accordance with Accounting Standards Codification 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers.

Direct the General Ledger Team to create closing schedules and procedures and resolve issues that impact the timeliness and/or reliability of financial results.

Assist with year‑end audit process, ad‑hoc reporting, and financial analyses as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience And Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or MBA.

A minimum of five years of experience within public and corporate accounting; experience with multi‑national operations preferred.

Two years of management experience.

CPA preferred.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Strong knowledge of accounting fundamentals, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); knowledge of government accounting standards is a plus.

Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to gather and evaluate complex data and information and develop recommendations and plans of action.

Strong understanding of multi‑entity and multi‑currency accounting.

Excellent oral and written communication skills coupled with the ability to work across all levels in the organization. Must collaborate extremely well with others and avoid becoming overly self‑reliant.

Hands‑on leader with demonstrated capacity to lead and build strong teams as well as attract and develop exceptional talent; ability to establish accountabilities, expectations and manage performance to achieve goals.

Excellent organizational, planning, and time‑management skills with the ability to independently manage multiple and often changing priorities and issues of varying complexity, while meeting time‑sensitive deadlines and deliverables.

Ability to perform ad‑hoc reporting and other tasks as needed in a demanding financial environment with changing priorities.

Proficient in MS Office Suite; advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP experience required (JD Edwards preferred).

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently required to sit and stand for long periods. The individual is occasionally required to walk; use hands and fingers to operate, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office.

Work Environment
This position is performed in a traditional office environment with a hybrid schedule possible.

Compensation Summary
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $101,400 to $154,650. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non‑discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary. These annual bonuses recognize individual performance and enable employees to benefit from the company’s overall success.
