Maintenance Mechanic
Job Overview and Duties
This position supports the CDPH mission by independently performing skilled maintenance tasks in Plant Operations and Maintenance for the Richmond Laboratory Campus. Responsibilities include inspecting, maintaining, and repairing plumbing, heating, water, and sewer systems; performing electrical maintenance and repair work; repairing laundry, shop, and other equipment; handling minor building construction and repair work; painting; refinishing furniture; estimating and requisitioning materials and supplies; maintaining tools and equipment; recording work and preparing reports; and reporting to the Supervisor of Building Trades.
Qualifications
Post & Bid: Classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Candidates from certification lists, transfers, reinstatements, re‑employment, training, and development assignments are considered consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement.
Compensation and Benefits
Classification: MAINTENANCE MECHANIC ($5,422.00 - $6,499.00 A)
Recruitment and retention pay differential: 5% above base rate for the Greater Bay Area for each qualifying pay period.
Personal Leave Program (PLP 2025): Possible 3% base pay reduction in exchange for paid leave credits.
