
Mechanical Engineer I (FPC) - Defense Systems Division

Position Summary
The Defense Systems Division is part of the Parker Aerospace Group, located in Irvine, California. Our products are used across military and commercial platforms globally. We specialize in cutting‑edge thermal management systems and components including fans, pumps, and compressors, ammunition handling systems, weapon scoring systems, dynamic pressure sensors, piezoelectric accelerometers, towed targets, reeling machines, and associated telemetry. This position supports the design, development, and testing of mechanical rotating equipment requiring innovative engineering solutions that enhance product performance and reliability. The successful candidate will apply strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, analytical expertise, and a collaborative mindset to support our customers’ needs.
Essential Functions
Layout and design of mechanical equipment and systems.
Generate complete drawing packages while applying ASME Y14.5M.
Perform calculations, analyses, and testing to ensure suitability of design.
Resolve problems related to the assembly, repair, and testing of development and production hardware.
Collaborate with colleagues in the department and other departments.
Write reports as required.
Present designs to peers, other engineers, and customers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
0 to 3+ years of experience in designing mechanical components/subsystems and applying ASME Y14.5M.
Ability to work under supervision to perform assignments of mild complexity and assist other engineers.
Knowledge of drawing and drafting standards, applied thermodynamics, and mechanical design.
Experience developing military or aerospace equipment is a strong plus.
Understanding of military specifications, environmental specifications, and test specifications is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle several abstract and concrete variables.
Hands‑on testing and hardware experience required; general machine shop experience is a plus.
SolidWorks CAD proficiency and mechanical hand tools usage.
Must be a US citizen.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay range: $69,500 to $115,000 annually.
Annual Incentive Program participation.
401(k) plan with company matching contributions up to 100% of the first 5% of pay.
