Our client is a global food broker, agent, and supplier. They seek a Controller to join their Short Hills, NJ team.
Responsibilities
Evaluate complex operational, financial, and market data to generate clear, actionable insights
Diagnose new situations, define core challenges, and design processes and controls to address them
Orchestrate projects from concept through execution, including setting objectives, timelines, stakeholders, and success metrics
Convert high-level leadership priorities into structured work plans and independently drive them through to completion
Strengthen risk management by identifying key exposures, recommending mitigation strategies, and monitoring risk metrics over time
Execute key accounting support functions, including reconciliations, audit/exam preparation, and process documentation, while assisting with close activities in accordance with US GAAP
Enhance internal controls, workflows, and documentation across accounting and operational processes, while serving as a reliable backup to the Controller/finance lead
Develop deep knowledge of the firm’s commodities business across sourcing, production, logistics, distribution, and customer requirements
Interpret domestic and international market trends—including tariffs, freight, and interest rates—and assess their impact on business performance and strategy
Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership, operations, logistics, and clients to translate analysis into practical processes and support business development initiatives
Requirements
6+ years of relevant experience
Ideally manufacturing/ CPS but open to industry
Combo or private experience
Mix of accounting and FP&A experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
