A highly sophisticated, technology-driven investment firm is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to own the reliability and performance of its core Linux infrastructure. This organization operates in a real-time, data-intensive environment where system stability and uptime are critical to business outcomes.
This role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of enterprise Linux systems across both physical and virtual environments. You’ll support mission-critical infrastructure including databases, storage platforms, and virtualization systems, while partnering closely with engineering and research teams to ensure seamless operations.
The position is heavily focused on production reliability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. You’ll drive automation initiatives, enhance monitoring and observability, and reduce operational overhead through thoughtful system design and tooling. While modern technologies like containers are present, the emphasis is on maintaining and evolving stable, high-performance systems.
Key Responsibilities
Own uptime and performance of Linux systems (bare metal & virtualized)
Administer infrastructure: databases, storage, virtualization
Build automation and improve operational processes
Maintain monitoring and incident response systems
Collaborate cross-functionally to support critical workloads
Qualifications
8+ years of Linux systems administration in production environments
Experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL, NetApp/ZFS, Proxmox/Hyper-V
Scripting with Python/Bash; automation tools like Ansible or Terraform
Exposure to Docker/Kubernetes (preferred)
Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
