
Senior Networking Systems Administrator

Responsibilities
Plan, design, implement, and support enterprise LAN/WAN/WLAN solutions, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability (including IP and VoIP).
Support and troubleshoot network issues across routing, switching, firewalls, secure access, and wireless.
Coordinate with vendors as needed for implementation and support.
Maintain accurate, clear, and up-to-date network documentation (diagrams, configurations, standards, and procedures).
Partner closely with engineering and application teams to align network architecture with business needs.
Respond to alerts and reported issues; perform incident triage, escalation as needed, root‑cause analysis, and drive issues to resolution within established support practices.
Analyze and solve complex network and security problems with minimal guidance.
Develop IT best practices to maximize availability of critical networking services and improve customer experience through automation of frequent or repetitive tasks.
Provide responsive, professional customer service to end users and stakeholders.
Manage project plans for network lifecycle initiatives (upgrades, expansions, standardization) and contribute to network architecture improvements.
Protect company IP through robust network security, access controls, backups, and disaster recovery planning for network infrastructure.
Implement timely patching and firmware upgrades (network devices, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure) to remediate vulnerabilities; accurately report and track security incidents.
Enforce network security policies and procedures by administering and monitoring security tooling; investigate and remediate potential security issues.
Administer and troubleshoot routers, firewalls, enterprise switching, and Wi‑Fi systems including authentication, guest access, and performance optimization.
Mentor other staff on networking best practices.
Participate in change management.
Qualifications
Strong foundation and hands‑on experience with enterprise networking and security, including datacenter and campus switches, routers, firewalls, enterprise Wi‑Fi systems, private global networks, SD‑WAN, and SASE.
Expertise specifically in Cisco switching/routing, Palo Alto firewalls, SD‑WAN, QoS tagging/queuing, and ZScaler.
Experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise networks (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless).
Experience supporting an engineering department in a design environment.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, communicate clearly (verbal and written), deliver excellent customer service, and provide practical, thorough technical solutions to complex problems.
BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or related fields plus 5 years of experience.
Compensation and Benefits
MaxLinear has a Total Compensation philosophy which includes a base salary and annual discretionary bonus eligibility. Many positions also include stock‑based compensation.
Good‑faith estimate for starting base salary range: $114,000 to $168,000 annually.
