Department Overview
The California Department of Social Services serves, protects, and supports Californians experiencing need. The Disability Determination Service Division provides high‑quality services for Title II, XVI, and XIX disability claims.

Job Description & Duties
Under the general director and guidance of the Branch Chief, the CABC manages and directs, through subordinate supervisors, the work of teams composed of Team Managers, Medical Consultants, Disability Evaluation Analysts, and support staff, that engage in adjudicating disability claims for Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, and Medi‑Cal program benefits.

The CABC is responsible for articulating, interpreting, and implementing Federal, Departmental, Division, and Branch policies, regulations, and procedures; overseeing Program Specialists and Medical Consultants that review adjudicated disability claims and conduct evidentiary hearings; analyzing program policies and procedures; assisting with review of problem areas; and reporting findings and recommendations to Branch management. The CABC may also uphold Program Support Bureau Chief responsibilities for the Branch as necessary.

Special Requirements
Conflicts of interest must be disclosed. The position requires Federal fingerprint clearance and a background check in accordance with the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12. Applicants must be screened; only the most qualified will be interviewed.
