Financial Advocate- Floater (Southshore)

SCOPE:

As a dedicated member of the OnPath FCU team, this role performs a variety of tasks that, in partnership with the surrounding departments, provide cost‑effective financial services for the benefit of our members, who are the primary focus.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

The Financial Advocate Floater is a branch employee with a 'home' location but travels to any branch within the region that needs assistance. Financial Advocates have the opportunity to grow within the organization to a permanent branch position or another position that aligns with their interests.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Financial Advocate is responsible for providing exceptional member service by having genuine and positive interactions, handling routine transactions, and assessing the best products and services to improve members’ financial situations. The role involves accurately processing transactions, maintaining cash integrity, and promoting the credit union’s products and services. The Financial Advocate will assist members, employees, and other internal partners, conduct daily business interactions, and maintain alignment with OnPath’s mission, culture, and core values. Responsibilities include:

Travelling to any branch within the assigned region.

Greeting and assisting every member with a friendly, positive, and professional demeanor.

Possessing a genuine passion for helping people.

Accurately processing deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, and other transactions.

Researching, troubleshooting, and resolving member and internal inquiries regarding policies, practices, and products.

Conducting consultative conversations with members to cross‑sell opportunities such as checking accounts, personal and auto loans, credit cards, refinances, debt consolidation loans, and referring mortgage and commercial loans to appropriate departments.

Communicating information on credit union products and services and meeting or exceeding referral and sales goals set by the branch.

Understanding and interpreting credit reports to offer the best solutions to members.

Efficiently processing loan documents.

Assisting with branch opening and closing procedures as needed, preparing currency and coin for shipment, verifying cash drawers/currency shipments/vault totals, and supporting branch operations with administrative tasks and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.

Participating in training sessions and team meetings to stay informed about policies and procedures.

Adhering to all credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, following security procedures to protect against fraud and ensuring member confidentiality, and reporting any suspicious activity or potential security breaches to management.

Completing all other duties as assigned.

Experience:

Up to 1 year of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.

Experience in a sales and/or customer service environment.

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

High school education or GED.

Interpersonal Skills:

Professional courtesy and tact are essential. The job involves personal contact with customers and other stakeholders for routine matters, providing and obtaining information, instructions, updates, or referrals.

Other Skills:

Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, federal, state, and local laws, statutes, regulations, codes, and standards related to the area of responsibility.

Proficiency with database software and the MS Office suite.

Working Conditions:

Must be able to perform work indoors in a climate‑controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Must perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively alone or as part of a team. Must read and carry out written and oral instructions, perform basic calculations, spell accurately, understand computer basics, speak clearly, and deliver information logically. Must handle calmly and professionally diverse personalities, demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion, manage multiple priorities, and exhibit discretion on confidential matters.
