Job Description
This role will partner closely with our Editorial and Product teams to optimize content performance across new and lifestyle, while helping to evolve strategies for emerging search behaviors, including Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with editorial instincts and is excited to work at the intersection of content, search, and audience growth.
This role reports to the Director of Search and is based in New York City.
Responsibilities
Execute SEO and GEO strategy across the TODAY.com and NBCNews.com content portfolio, with a focus on news and lifestyle.
Partner with editors to integrate SEO best practices into daily publishing workflows, from ideation through post-publication optimization
Lead the development and execution of forward-looking strategies
Optimize on-page elements at scale, including headlines, metadata, and internal linking structures
Analyze performance trends and identify opportunities for growth across both traditional search and emerging AI-driven discovery surfaces
Collaborate with Digital Analytics to surface insights and inform content decisions
Prepare materials for editorial meetings, including agendas, performance readouts, and follow-ups
Serve as a strategic partner to editorial stakeholders, ensuring SEO/GEO initiatives are prioritized and effectively executed
Support and mentor Sr. Analyst, contributing to overall team development
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in SEO, ideally within a media, publishing, or content-driven environment
Hands‑on experience executing SEO strategies, including keyword research, on‑page optimization, and performance analysis
Familiarity with analytics platforms such as Adobe Analytics or similar tools
Experience with technical SEO, with usage of tools such as Google Search Console, SEMrush, Botify
Understanding of how search performance connects to business outcomes (traffic, engagement, revenue, affiliate performance)
Working knowledge or interest in Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and how AI‑driven search impacts content discovery

Ability to manage multiple priorities, balancing daily execution with longer‑term strategic initiatives
Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights

Additional Requirements
Hybrid:
This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in‑office requirements at any time.

Salary range: $85,000 - $115,000
