Airfield Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities

Participate in planning, design, and construction of airfield lighting and navigational aid projects.

Perform electrical‑related design tasks or projects in support of project and design managers.

Prepare bidding documents, including plans & specifications, lighting layout, power distribution, lighting controls, electrical facilities, airfield navigational aids, signage, coordination with other disciplines, quantity takeoffs, design reports, cost estimates, and construction scheduling.

Perform, assist or oversee construction‑related tasks including on‑site construction observation and project engineering.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).

Ability to communicate technical ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.

Attitude of taking independent initiative, exhibiting creative problem‑solving, eagerness to learn, while remaining dedicated to teamwork.

Minimum 5 years of aviation electrical engineering experience with demonstrated technical design of airfield ground lighting, navigational aids, lighting controls, and electrical infrastructure projects, including electrical design engineering reports and specifications.

Understanding and implementation of FAA Advisory Circulars and UFC criteria.

Construction support experience (review of RFIs and material submittals, preparation of RFQs, field orders, and change orders; field observation/site visits as needed).

Demonstrated skill and working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D.

Experience in Microsoft Office.

Licensed Professional Engineer.

Experience performing voltage drop, available fault current, and arc‑flash calculations is a plus.

The base salary range for this position is $132,900.00 to $155,000.00. Pay is determined by work location and additional factors including job‑related skills, experience, and education.
