About the job
This position is a uniformed rank and works under the general direction of the Communications Supervisor of the California Fire and Rescue Coordination Center (CFRCC). In the designated workspace assigned operating Cal OES Fire and Rescue related systems, fire telecommunications and radio communications.
Receives and responds to telephone calls; equipment and personnel by computer, telephone to specified points as required; request emergency services as required by designated chief officers; identify correctly locations where assistance is needed or requested, determine the availability and location of departmental units, respond to other fire and rescue emergency response agencies such as the California Fire and Rescue Mutual Aid System Region Dispatch Centers, dispatching Cal OES departmental units for response as necessary and as outlined in the assignee agreement; filling out into a computer terminal; receiving and transmitting reports of incidents and requests for assistance; access data on other fire and rescue related records, databases and programs; maintain all required logs; provide information as directed and perform other related duties. Work directly with the Wildfire Forecast and Threat Intelligence Integration Center and CAL FIRE Southern and Northern Intelligence Centers.

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, Fire and Rescue Division is responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of the California Fire Service and Rescue Emergency Mutual Aid Plan. The Plan is developed and updated under guidance and approval of the Fire and Rescue Service Advisory Committee/FIRESCOPE Board of Directors. The continued success of California’s unique and highly-effective Fire and Rescue Mutual Aid System demands a maximum level of understanding and cooperation by all who use and support it.
In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings
ights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.
