Overview

Position Summary
The Project Originator is responsible for originating, structuring, and executing power offtake agreements with data center customers to support the development and commercialization of utility-scale renewable energy projects (solar, wind, and battery energy storage). This role sits at the intersection of

business development, commercial strategy, and power marketing , working closely with internal development, finance, legal, and executive teams to advance projects from early-stage development through financial close.
Responsibilities

Identify and assess early stage sites suitable for data centers and renewable energy projects.
Lead commercial origination efforts with

hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data center customers .
Coordinate closely with internal development teams to ensure commercial requirements are aligned with project siting, interconnection, permitting, and construction schedules.
Act as the primary commercial interface with data center customers, understanding their load profiles, sustainability targets, procurement strategies, and risk tolerances.
Support broader

business development initiatives

related to strategic partnerships, co-development opportunities, and customer-led project origination.
Develop customer-facing materials, proposals, and bid responses for RFPs and bilateral negotiations.
Represent the company at industry conferences, customer meetings, and commercial negotiations.
Monitor power market fundamentals, REC markets, congestion, basis risk, and pricing trends relevant to data center procurement strategies.
Evaluate project economics, offtake structures, and credit considerations to

optimize value

across the development portfolio.
Support internal investment committee and executive approvals with commercial analysis and deal summaries.
Work closely with legal and commercial teams to support contract negotiations.
Partner with finance and administrative teams to support project financing activities.
Coordinate with grid, interconnection, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure commercial terms reflect market and operational realities.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Business, or related field.
5 years of experience in

power origination, energy marketing, renewables development, or commercial roles

within IPPs, utilities, or power marketers.
Strong understanding of U.S. wholesale power markets (ISO/RTOs), REC structures, and risk allocation.
Proven ability to engage directly with large commercial and industrial customers, including data center operators.
Strong financial and commercial acumen, including familiarity with project economics and valuation drivers.
Experience working specifically with

data centers, hyperscalers, or large C&I energy procurement teams .
Exposure to battery energy storage offtake or hybrid renewable-plus-storage structures.
MBA or advanced degree a plus.
