The General Dentist provides comprehensive oral healthcare services to adult and pediatric patients in a community health center setting. This role emphasizes preventive care, patient education, and evidence-based treatment while working collaboratively within an integrated care model to support whole-person health.
Key Responsibilities Clinical CarePerform comprehensive dental examinations, diagnoses, and treatment planning
Provide a full scope of general dentistry services, including:
Preventive care (cleanings, fluoride, sealants)
Restorative dentistry (fillings, crowns)
Simple and surgical extractions
Endodontic and limited prosthodontic procedures, as appropriate
Manage dental emergencies and urgent care needs
Deliver care in accordance with evidence-based clinical standards and FQHC guidelines
Educate patients on oral hygiene, disease prevention, and treatment options
Promote patient understanding, compliance, and long-term oral health
Provide compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive care
Work closely with dental hygienists, dental assistants, and front-office staff
Collaborate with medical and behavioral health providers as part of an integrated care team
Participate in community outreach, school-based programs, or health education initiatives as assigned
Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic dental record (EDR)
Comply with HRSA, OSHA, CDC, and Ohio Dental Practice Act requirements
Adhere to infection control, sterilization, and patient safety protocols
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review, and performance improvement activities
DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school
Current or eligible WI/MN dental license
DEA registration (or eligibility)
CPR/BLS certification
Commitment to serving underserved and diverse populations
Prior experience in an FQHC, community health center, or public health setting
Experience treating Medicaid and uninsured populations
Familiarity with electronic dental records and quality reporting
Interest in community outreach and preventive dentistry
