Position Summary
Trident Technical College Department of Public Safety is a division of law enforcement, safety, and a professional Police Department. We are dedicated to providing a safe environment for the Trident Technical College Community. This position is responsible for performing patrol officer duties to enforce state, county and municipal criminal laws as well as traffic laws and college regulations for the protection of people at all campus locations. Prior to employment, candidates will undergo an extensive background check, Physical Ability Test (PAT) and polygraph test. Candidate must pass a pre‑employment drug test and physical upon offer of employment.

Responsibilities
Perform patrol officer duties to enforce state, county and municipal criminal laws, traffic laws, and college regulations to protect people at all campus locations.
Qualifications
High school diploma required.
Preferred: two (2) years of law enforcement experience.
Working knowledge of modern police methods and procedures.
Ability to prepare reports and testify in court.
Ability to work with a diverse population while providing excellent customer service.
Graduates of the SC Criminal Justice Academy with one (1) year of campus law enforcement experience preferred.
Valid South Carolina driver’s license.
21 years of age and ability to meet the requirements of LE‑1 Certification with the SC Criminal Justice Academy within one (1) year of employment.
Knowledge of state, county and municipal laws.
Salary and Benefits
Non‑Certified Officers: starting salary $48,400 based on SC pay band LAW03.
Certified Officers: salary range $50,000 – $60,500 based on SC pay band LAW03.
