A locum tenens opportunity is available for a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist to support a high-acuity cardiac and general surgical program within a major hospital system in Florida. This role includes both independent anesthesia management and supervised care in a structured, team-based environment.
The assignment requires full monthly availability and participation in a rotational cardiac anesthesia coverage model, including weekday, weekend, and call responsibilities.
About the facilityThis opportunity is based within a large, accredited 400+ bed acute care hospital system located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The facility is a regional referral center offering comprehensive surgical, cardiovascular, and specialty services.
The anesthesia department supports a wide range of service lines, including orthopedic surgery, OB/GYN, general surgery, urology, gastroenterology, endoscopy, and advanced cardiac procedures. The program operates within a structured staffing model that includes supervision, independent practice, and rotating call coverage.
The hospital serves a diverse, high-volume patient population and is part of a nationally recognized healthcare system known for its multidisciplinary clinical teams and advanced procedural capabilities.

Job Responsibilities- Provide anesthesia care across multiple surgical specialties, including:
- Orthopedics
- OB/GYN and gynecologic oncology
- General surgery
- Urology
- GI and endoscopy
- Cardiac cases (CABG, valve repairs/replacements, TAVR, MitraClip, LAA ligation, EP procedures)
- Participate in a structured cardiac anesthesia coverage model
- Perform both supervised and independent anesthesia cases
- Manage perioperative anesthesia planning and intraoperative care
- Participate in weekday, weekend, and call rotations
- Work collaboratively with surgeons, CRNAs, and perioperative staff
- Board Certified in Anesthesiology (Required)
- Active Florida medical license required
- Eligible for Florida IMLC/compact pathway acceptable with proof of application
- Active ACLS certification required
- Active BLS certification required
- Active DEA registration required
- Clean professional background with no clinical, legal, or pending disciplinary actions
- Must be able to provide 24 months of case logs within 5 days of credentialing approval
- Must be available for a virtual/phone interview with site leadership
- Monday through Friday
- Shift options: 7:00 AM 3:00 PM, 7:00 AM 5:00 PM, 7:00 AM 7:00 PM
- Minimum requirement: 20 shifts per month
- Weekend coverage required
- Call required (weekday and weekend rotation)
- Potential structured cardiac scheduling blocks depending on assignment rotation
- Expertise in cardiac and high-acuity anesthesia management
- Experience with complex cardiac procedures (CABG, valves, TAVR, MitraClip, EP cases)
- Ability to function in both supervisory and independent anesthesia roles
- Strong clinical decision-making in fast-paced OR environments
- Proficiency across multiple surgical specialties
- Effective collaboration with multidisciplinary surgical teams
- Adaptability to rotating schedules and high-volume workflows
