Church Custodian

Education
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience
Six months of custodial work experience preferred
Custodial training desired
Qualifications
The Custodian must be able to stand or walk 90% of the work time; and sit 10%. The Custodian must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds in order to clean work areas and handle supplies and equipment. The Custodian must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach. These requirements are necessary for using ladders and stairs, cleaning low areas, high areas, benches and corners. The Custodian must be able to communicate clearly and accurately with supervisors and coworkers; must have good vision, with depth perception and ability to distinguish colors for safety reasons.

Job Description
Reports to: Maintenance Coordinator, Chief of Staff
Hours: 16 per week, including Sundays (office hours determined with supervisor)
Summary: The Custodian is responsible for keeping the church buildings, walkways and grounds clean, safe, and ready to use. The major areas of responsibility include cleaning the campus, stocking restrooms, reporting product needs, and assisting in room set-ups for church use and other events as requested.
The position requires:
Experience working in team settings
Ability to consult digital calendars and propose anticipated cleaning needs
Knowledge of appropriate cleaning chemical uses and storage (with a preference for environmentally friendly products)
Ability to identify and handle cleaning needs appropriately and timely without instruction
Custodial Duties
Cleaning Restrooms
Mopping restroom floors.
Stocking toilet paper, soap, paper towels, and other toiletries in all restrooms.
Cleaning toilets.
Sanitizing frequently used surfaces.
Trash and Recycling Removal
Trash consolidation or full bag replacement as is appropriate.
Disposing of trash and recycling into appropriate onsite dumpsters.
Surface Sanitation and Cleanliness
Sweeping and mopping tile floors and vacuuming carpeted floors.
Sanitizing counters, tables, and other surfaces after Sunday services and other events.
Dusting corners and surfaces around campus
Care for Equipment
Cleaning vacuum filters
Changing mop heads
Cleaning other equipment
Reporting Inventory Needs to Supervisor
Event Services
Pre-Event Preparation
Cleaning rented spaces before events.
Setting up tables and chairs upon request.
Post-Event Cleaning
Cleaning used spaces after events.
Trash removal.
