
Summer Children's Ministry Worker - (Aurora, Crystal Lake, Elgin & Rolling Meado

Summary of Primary Purpose
Support the ongoing work of a ministry by assisting, learning and utilizing educational experience with the applicable side of ministry. Participates in hands‑on opportunity to grow in ministry experience, teamwork, and spiritual maturity through practical service and guided coaching. Supporting the ministry for weekly and weekend operations, as needed.
Responsibilities
Provide general support to a ministry
Assist with weekly responsibilities at an assigned campus or department, including administrative and logistical tasks
Actively participate in regular staff and team meetings
Engage in team collaboration and contribute to the development of team dynamics and effectiveness
Assist with basic technical or operational tasks related to ministry activities
Complete a short‑term project focused on personal and spiritual development: Theology Initiative
Participate in regular one‑on‑one coaching or mentorship with a designated ministry leader
Active learning, with reading, taking notes, asking questions and seeking feedback
Perseverance to lean into challenges for continued growth and development
Work non‑traditional hours including evenings and weekends, as needed
Actively participate in Summer Worker, Theology Initiative Orientation: June 6, 6:30pm
Actively participate in Summer Worker, Celebration: July 26, 6:30pm
Ministry Duties and Expectations
Desire to grow in discipleship, serving, equipping, learning and leading
Personal and growing relationship with Jesus and a humility to testify to it
Ability to explain “What Harvest Bible Chapel Believes”
Ability to pray with other employees, guests and attenders of the church
Be active, engaged and accountable in the congregational life at Harvest Bible Chapel
Skills and Knowledge Required
Developing interpersonal and communication skills
Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft programs
Flexible, and a willingness to serve and adapt to changing needs or direction
Curiosity, to explore and ask questions for continual learning
Collaboration and able to work effectively with others and sharing knowledge
Education and Experience
Volunteer experience in a ministry context is preferred
Enrolled in Secondary or Post‑Secondary institution commensurate with desired role
Minimum age as listed in the Illinois Fair Labor Standards Act
Salary Information
$16.50 per hour, up to 10 hours per week
