Job Summary and Qualifications
The Trauma Performance Improvement (PI) Coordinator
works with trauma program leadership to coordinate all aspects of the department’s Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) Program. The PI Coordinator will review the continuum of care to determine compliance with practice management guidelines, policies and procedures, and established standards of care.
Responsibilities
Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.
Maintain the Trauma PI database to ensure adequate documentation as required by regulatory agencies.
Complete concurrent review of cases to identify quality, timelines and systems of care to meet state standards.
Participate in hospital education programs for nurses and resident physicians caring for trauma patients.
Serve as a liaison to the clinical areas responsible for trauma patients.
Coordinate multidisciplinary monthly Trauma Systems & Operations Committee and Peer Review meetings.
Qualifications
Current Alaska licensure as a Registered Nurse.
Associate's degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
Clinical experience in emergency, critical care, or flight nursing required.
Previous experience working in a trauma program preferred.
Previous experience entering information into and extracting reports from trauma databases preferred.
Must maintain continuing education requirements as set forth by the American College of Surgeons for this role.
Continuing education with focus on obtaining TCRN (Trauma Care Registered Nurse) preferred.
Ongoing trauma database training required.
Competency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher).
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, with in-house and outlying area physicians, nursing staff, EMS agencies, other departments and media representatives.
Must maintain hospital mandatory education and training for nursing.
AHA CPR for Healthcare Providers certification on hire and TNCC are required within 3 months.
