Plant Maintenance Technician – Pet Food Division
Position: Plant Maintenance Technician
Location: Ryan Rd & I-94, Oak Creek, WI
Schedule: 3rd Shift – 6pm to 6am, 2‑2‑3 schedule
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
Job Summary
The Plant Maintenance Technician supports the freeze‑dry manufacturing facility by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and plant equipment. The role focuses on safety, food‑quality, and continuous improvement to deliver high‑quality products.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on production equipment, including packaging machines and proprietary systems.
Use mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing skills to diagnose issues, replace or repair parts, and test performance.
Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders for maintenance tasks.
Conduct preventive maintenance and regular inspections of machines and facilities.
Operate hand and power tools, electric meters, and material‑handling equipment safely.
Report abnormal operations or defects to appropriate supervision.
Maintain clean, orderly work areas and comply with safety regulations.
Work independently and perform on‑call duties as needed.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED; mechanical inclination. Associates in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
Four or more years of manufacturing experience.
Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial systems; familiarity with ammonia/refrigeration and HVAC systems is desirable.
Food Safety Requirements
Prioritize food safety, quality, and sanitation; follow policies and procedures.
Communicate food‑safety incidents and observations to leadership and teammates.
Act as backup to the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure compliance with SQF system requirements.
Physical Requirements
Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
Fine finger dexterity required.
Approximately 20% sitting, 70% walking, and 70% standing.
Work in temperature‑variable, food‑manufacturing environment; sight and hearing must be unrestricted.
Must lift up to 40 lbs.
Product Safety and Quality
Maintain priority on food safety, quality, and sanitation in alignment with Thrive Freeze Dry policies.
Uphold GMP standards regarding food‑contact packaging and product defense.
Ensure compliance with Thrive’s SQF system requirements and quality objectives.
