GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising manufacturing operations to meet production targets while ensuring safety, quality, cost control, and on-time delivery. This role leads production teams, drives continuous improvement, enforces standards, and collaborates with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance to optimize output and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
Plan daily, weekly and monthly production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery targets
Supervise, coach and develop production supervisors and operators; manage staffing, training and shift handovers
Ensure production meets safety, quality, and regulatory standards; enforce AS/ISO/OSHA requirements as applicable
Monitor production KPIs (throughput, yield, scrap, uptime, on-time delivery, labor efficiency) and take corrective actions
Coordinate with Supply Chain to manage material availability and minimize production downtime
Coordinate with production planning, sales and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure capacity is sufficient to meet requirements
Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean manufacturing, SS, Kaizen) to reduce waste, increase throughput and lower costs
Oversee production documentation, batch records, and traceability processes
Manage production changeovers and new product introductions with cross-functional teams
Ensure proper operation and preventive maintenance coordination with Maintenance
Control labor and operating costs within budget; prepare production reports and forecasts
Promote and maintain a safe, inclusive, and compliant workplace
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills
Problem‑solving skills: structured problem solving (5 Whys, PDCA)
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement tools
Working knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001, AS9100) and root cause corrective action (RCCA)
Preferred certifications: Lean/Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt
Experience with ISO 9001, AS900, and other industry‑specific quality systems
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Business, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years manufacturing experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory/management role (adjustable by level)
Demonstrated experience with production planning, scheduling and metrics‑driven management
Experience in continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen)
Proficient with manufacturing systems (ERP/MRP) and MS Office
Strong leadership, communication, problem‑solving, and people‑management skills
Experience in electronic assembly, cable/connector manufacturing, or precision manufacturing strongly preferred
Familiarity with manufacturing systems (ERP/MRP), shop‑floor data collection, and basic Microsoft Office
U.S. Citizen or permanent resident to satisfy AFSI ITAR requirements
Position requires candidates to be a U.S. person as defined in ITAR, 22CFR 120.15 (U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien Status)
Work environment: Fast‑paced manufacturing floor with ESD/clean‑area controls, frequent standing and walking, use of inspection/metrology equipment, and close collaboration with Production, Engineering and Quality teams. PPE required
Physical Demands
Frequent standing and walking on the production floor, occasional lifting of 25‑50 lbs, and work in clean‑area conditions. PPE required
