Job Description
About Coastal Recovery
Coastal Recovery is a leading provider of integrated behavioral health services in Myrtle Beach, SC, specializing in substance use disorder treatment through Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs. Our mission is to deliver compassionate, evidence-based, recovery-oriented care that supports long-term wellness, personal empowerment, and sustained recovery.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a licensed Physician Assistant (PA-C) to serve as a core member of our interdisciplinary treatment team. This is a full-time, on-site role providing psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and ongoing medical oversight within a structured PHP/IOP setting. This position does not include inpatient call demands.
We welcome candidates across experience levels, from new graduates to advanced practitioners. What matters most to us is clinical grounding, genuine investment in this patient population, and the ability to consistently show up with compassion in a high-acuity behavioral health environment.
Your days are centered on patient assessments, medication management, and coordinated care within our PHP and IOP programs. You will work alongside therapists, nurses, and case management staff in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and clinical reviews. Documentation is completed in an established EMR with defined clinical workflows, and you will have access to supportive medical leadership throughout.
Who Thrives Here
Our patient population includes individuals experiencing active substance use disorders, co-occurring psychiatric conditions, and significant emotional dysregulation. The clinicians who do their best work here are those who can hold steady in the middle of it - who see challenging behavior, manipulation, and dysregulation not as personal obstacles, but as expressions of the disease they are there to treat. If you approach difficult presentations with clinical curiosity rather than frustration, and you are motivated by the complexity of this work, this role is worth a serious look.
What You'll Do
Conduct psychiatric and medical assessments for PHP and IOP patients upon admission and throughout treatment
Provide medication management in accordance with scope of practice, supervisory agreements, and program protocol
Monitor patient response to psychotropic medications and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) protocols
Collaborate with therapists, nurses, and case management staff to ensure integrated, coordinated care
Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and clinical review
Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic medical record
Support continuity of care, including coordination with external providers and referral sources
Adhere to all applicable South Carolina PA licensing, supervisory agreement, and program requirements
Requirements
What You Bring
Required:
Active PA-C licensure in South Carolina, in good standing
Active DEA registration or ability to obtain upon hire
Working knowledge of psychotropic medications, MAT protocols, and monitoring requirements
Strong clinical judgment, assessment skills, and ability to manage complex and high-acuity patient presentations
Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and person-centered care
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary behavioral health environment
Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and clinical documentation
Preferred:
Experience in behavioral health, psychiatry, or substance use disorder treatment
Compensation
Coastal Recovery offers a competitive salary commensurate with licensure, experience, and scope of practice, structured as follows:
Entry-Level (new graduate or limited behavioral health experience): $95,000 - $110,000 annually
Mid-Level (2 to 4 years of behavioral health, psychiatry, or SUD experience): $110,000 - $128,000 annually
Advanced (5+ years or significant psychiatric/SUD specialty experience): $128,000 - $145,000 annually
A signing bonus is also available and will be discussed during the offer process.
Additional Benefits
No inpatient call demands; structured daytime schedule within a PHP/IOP model
Supportive medical leadership and defined clinical workflows
Opportunities for ongoing training, supervision, and clinical growth
