The Opportunity
The Alcohol and Drug Counselor is a core member of Coastal Recovery's interdisciplinary treatment team, providing individual and group counseling services to adults in SUD treatment using evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches. This full-time, on-site role in Myrtle Beach, SC plays a critical part in treatment planning, documentation, client engagement, and collaboration with medical and program leadership to ensure effective and compliant care.
What You'll Do
Provide individual, group, and family counseling services within PHP and IOP levels of care
Complete biopsychosocial assessments, ASAM-aligned treatment plans, and ongoing documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards
Facilitate evidence-based group programming focused on relapse prevention, coping skills, emotional regulation, and recovery support
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team including medical providers, case managers, and peer support staff to coordinate client care
Participate in supervision, case consultation, and reflective practice to support quality services and professional growth
Maintain ethical boundaries, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
Support a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented treatment environment

Requirements
What you bring
Required:
Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field meeting South Carolina licensure requirements
Active South Carolina licensure or associate licensure as an LPC or LMFT, in good standing
Active Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC) credential or documented eligibility to obtain
Demonstrated competencies in group facilitation, documentation, and treatment planning
Knowledge of ASAM criteria, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and relapse prevention strategies
Ability to maintain compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and South Carolina behavioral health regulations
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary treatment team
Preferred:
Experience providing counseling in SUD or co-occurring treatment settings
Working knowledge of utilization review expectations and documentation standards
Compensation and Benefits
$50,000 to $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience and licensure level. Associate-licensed candidates can expect placement toward the lower end of the range, with fully licensed candidates qualifying for the upper range.
