Highlights
Summary: The Central Transport Associate shall be primarily responsible for the safe transport of patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support areas via wheelchair or stretcher as required, including transport of patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips and special equipment. This individual is also responsible for other duties as related to department or hospital operations. Additional duties within the scope of the role may be assigned.
Education / Experience: High school graduate or equivalent required, or completion of Project Search Program. License / Certification: BLS required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must manage various attitudes of customers effectively.
Must be able to work alone and/or in confined or crowded areas.
Must be aware of patient’s condition at all times.
Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions.
Must be able to perform shift work and weekend work if required.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
Sitting approximately 20 % of the workday.
Mobility approximately 80 % of the workday.
Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching and frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action.
Occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds or greater, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds or greater.
Continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person.
Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.
Inside; protected from the weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Minimal noise levels.
Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks.
Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock and/or radiation.
