Job Description And Duties
Office Technician (Typing) performs a variety of general office work. Responsibilities include typing, dictation and transcription; mail and document handling; filing and records management; document preparation and review; composition of correspondence; oral communications; statistical and other record keeping; cashiering; and ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment. Employees in this series may be regularly required to have particular knowledge and/or proficiency in typing, cashiering, and information services.
Office Technician may instruct, lead or supervise incarcerated people.
Working Conditions
Position located in Lancaster, CA (Antelope Valley). The California State Prison – Los Angeles County (LAC) is approximately forty-five (45) minutes north of Valencia, CA and approximately seventy-five (75) miles north of Downtown Los Angeles/ Hollywood.

Special Requirements
Must type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications. A valid typing certificate confirming the minimum typing speed is required prior to hiring.
Desirable Qualifications
Ability to perform difficult clerical work, including correct spelling, good English, arithmetic computations, operation of office machines, following oral and written directions, evaluating situations accurately, reading and writing English at required level, making clear reports, managing difficult records, dealing tactfully with the public, applying specific laws and policies, preparing correspondence independently, communicating effectively, and providing guidance.
