
Certified Medical Assistant Urgent Care PRN Ocala

Job Responsibilities
Drive customer service initiatives by creating and owning the patient experience.
Perform and document all procedures and assessments legibly and in accordance with department policy.
Assess patients during clinical check‑in, document pertinent medical information and vital signs, and evaluate for signs of abuse or neglect using age‑specific guidelines.
Administer treatments, medications, and follow‑up assessments as ordered by the provider, verifying as needed, and respond appropriately in clinical emergencies and triage situations.
Conduct diagnostic and occupational medicine testing, including EKG, spirometry, audiometry, titmus, and pulse oximetry, and complete forensic testing collections per DOT and state guidelines.
Complete check‑out duties and relay instructions and care information to patients or their families.
Perform required Quality Control checklist to ensure patient safety.
Follow CDC guidelines, infection prevention practices, use PPE appropriately, perform hand washing according to policy, and adhere to safety regulations.
Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives.
Train newly hired clinical staff as needed.
Provide excellent customer service to patients and visitors.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of general medical assistant practices.
Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.
Ability to operate a computer, copier, fax and scanner.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and others of diverse backgrounds.
Ability to multi‑task efficiently in a fast‑paced, high‑patient volume environment.
Strong critical thinking skills (preferred).
Education
High School Graduate or equivalent.
Work Experience
1+ related work experience or graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with completion of externship.
6 months relevant experience within an AdventHealth facility.
Previous MA experience (preferred).
Previous urgent care/ED experience (preferred).
Licenses and Certifications
BLS – Basic Life Support / CPR Certificate.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Certified Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA).
Licensed Paramedic (PARA).
