DEPARTMENT: Cornerstone Theological Seminary
LOCATION: Grand Rapids, Michigan
SUMMARY:
The Dean will lead the strategy and implementation for the seminary and ministry programs, directing curriculum, faculty, and student life while fostering growth and maintaining the university’s Christ‑centered mission. The role includes overseeing budgets, fundraising, community partnerships, and ensuring high‑quality teaching and scholarship.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Model the CU Confession, Christian World View, Academic Vision, and Beautiful Christian Community statements in all programs.
Lead strategic planning, assessment, and innovation for the School and its disciplines.
Develop pathways for undergraduate students to pursue ministry careers and transition into seminary.
Maintain administrative responsibilities, including budgeting, faculty hiring, evaluation, and scheduling.
Collaborate with enrollment, marketing, and advancement to grow student enrollment and secure new funding sources.
Represent the university in external forums and build partnerships with local congregations.
Support faculty and staff in achieving retention and academic outcomes.
Maintain engagement with the broader higher‑education environment and respond to external changes.
Work outside normal hours as required for deadlines or emergencies.
Perform additional duties as needed to support the School’s objectives.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
• Doctorate or nearing completion in a relevant field.
• 5‑7 years of ministry or online learning provider leadership.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and stress‑management skills.
• Ability to implement long‑range planning, performance management, and budget oversight.
• A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and to the university’s doctrinal stance.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
