We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team of medical professionals in the Red Eagle Community Work Center in Montgomery, AL.
Full Time and Part Time positions may be available.
As a Correctional Certified Nursing Assistant you will work under the supervision of a registered nurse alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment where security is top priority, you will have duties that keep you engaged, including assisting physicians and other healthcare professionals with examinations, taking patient histories, vital signs, supporting administrative tasks, etc. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.
Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Assist with performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history.
Take vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, respiration, and weight.
Document medical history including medications, treatment and medical conditions.
Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills including bathing, dressing, feeding and mobility.
Provide basic wound care, basic laboratory tests, basic patient education and instructions.
Observe and report changes in patients’ physical or mental health to nurses.
Administrative Duties
Schedule and coordinate patient appointments.
Maintain inventory of medical and office supplies.
Answer phones, emails and other forms of communication.
Qualifications & Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.
Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and demonstrate integrity, professionalism and adherence to a Code of Conduct and compliance with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
Physical Capabilities
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
