Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at a competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health‑care team to achieve desired results.
Unit Description
Pediatrics Heart Center is a 29‑bed unit ranked #4 nationally by U.S. News and World Report and #1 in patient outcomes, and is an AACN Beacon Award‑Winning unit. It is the referral center for all major pediatric cardiac surgery in South Carolina. The unit cares for patients with congenital and acute heart disease of any age, providing cardiac surgery, ventricular assist devices, heart transplant, cardiac catheterization, and all medical diagnoses associated with cardiac care for children in South Carolina. It also provides ECMO/CRRT and additional complex supportive therapies, and pediatric palliative care as needed. The staffing mix includes registered nurses, patient‑care technicians, unit secretaries, respiratory therapy, pediatric dietitians, and a pediatric pharmacist, with all beds monitored.
Benefits
Up to a $30,000 sign‑on bonus with a 3‑year service agreement for external candidates with a minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
Minimum Training and Education
Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013, with an associate or diploma degree must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN within four years of hire or reclassification.
One year of registered‑nurse work experience required.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations
Licensed as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (American Heart Association AHA BLS, American Red Cross CPR/AED, or equivalent).
Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) certification required.
Physical and Mental Requirements
