Job Summary / Purpose
Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level, utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process. The RN delivers safe and effective care and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to achieve desired outcomes.

Unit Description
Peds Heart Center is a 29‑bed unit, ranked #2 nationally by U.S. News and World Report and #1 in patient outcomes. The unit is a AACN Beacon Award‑winning center and the referral hub for all major pediatric cardiac surgery in South Carolina. It manages patients with congenital and acute heart disease of any age, and commonly manages procedures such as cardiac surgery, ventricular assist devices, heart transplant, cardiac catheterization, ECMO/CRRT, and complex supportive therapies.

Benefits
Up to a $30,000 sign‑on bonus for external candidates with a minimum of two years of relevant nursing experience, subject to a three‑year service agreement.

Minimum Training and Education
Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. One year of registered nurse experience required. RN hires with an associate or diploma degree must enroll in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN within four years of hire or reclassification.

Licensure, Certifications, Registrations
Licensed registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, either AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.

Physical and Mental Requirements
The RN must be able to stand, sit, walk, and occasionally climb stairs; work indoors and outdoors in temperature extremes; work in confined or cramped spaces; perform tasks from kneeling positions; bend and twist at the waist; squat; perform pinching, gross and fine motor activities; reach overhead; perform repetitive hand/wrist motions; use lower extremities for balance; lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted; lift objects to a maximum height of 36 in; exert up to 50 lbs of force; maintain 20/40 vision; recognize colors; perceive depth; maintain hearing acuity; manage stressful situations; work rotating shifts; work overtime as required; and work in a latex‑safe environment.
