
Lab Technician - Nights

The Lab Technician will handle all aspects of the lab including chemical testing, bacteria testing, and quality assurance to ensure the manufacture and packaging of high quality products.
Shift
Alternating 3 or 4 day work weeks. 12‑hour shift beginning at 5:00 pm EST.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Pull, log, and run finish product and processing samples for all required tests on each product.
Sample incoming raw material and packaging to determine acceptability of supplier loads.
Audit CIP chemical concentrations and ensure compliance with company specifications.
Prepare media and other lab controls, e.g., pour plates, buffer water.
Operate autoclave to sterilize plates and equipment while ensuring the accuracy of sterility tests.
Assist in lab equipment preventive maintenance: clean the Micro Luminescence System weekly with caustic, drain and clean the autoclave bi‑weekly, change fluid standards and filters on the cryoscopy.
Inoculate batch tanks with enzymes and vitamins and record usage on the various logs.
Clean and review racking systems in incubators and coolers for shelf‑life testing.
Participate in environmental testing in and around the plant, including swabbing, air plating, and water sampling.
Verify that plant equipment meets sanitation requirements prior to startup.
Perform various tasks related to the food safety and quality of company products.
Education And Experience
Prior experience in food manufacturing.
Knowledge of food microbiology, chemistry, dairy standards, and CIP sanitation.
Intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel).
Ability to work well with people.
Strong communication skills.
Multitasking ability.
Ability to work independently.
Physical Requirements
Move throughout all areas of the facility, including office, production, and warehouse environments.
Work at heights greater than 40 feet while operating a powered industrial truck.
Wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job functions.
Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift with meal break.
Stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance; move objects exceeding 50 pounds with reasonable accommodations.
Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $27.98 – $28.64 USD.
