NaphCare is hiring a
Registered Nurse (RN)
to join our team in Atmore, AL, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for individuals who are currently incarcerated in the G.K. Fountain Correctional Facility.
As a
Correctional Registered Nurse (RN) , you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to residents. Working within a controlled environment with security as a top priority, you will perform a variety of duties, including physical assessments, medication administration, management of chronic illnesses, and emergency response. This is a unique position where you can make a difference for a diverse population with complex medical needs.
Responsibilities
Perform initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.
Monitor and document patient health including vital signs and medical histories.
Provide direct patient care, triage, assess patient needs, develop care plans, and coordinate services.
Manage acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
Respond to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and ensure timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.
Educate patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
Understand and adhere to correctional facility security protocols while working with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and well-being.
Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment plans, and report relevant information.
Qualifications
Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the state of Alabama.
Active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
Knowledge of nursing practice principles, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, and applicable health care laws and procedures for direct health care services.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed.
Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to a Code of Conduct and facility correctional healthcare policies and legal requirements.
Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
Physical Capabilities
Must be able to stand for long periods, lift and move patients up to 50 pounds, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk long distances, and perform physically demanding tasks (e.g., CPR) while maintaining balance and endurance throughout a shift.
