Overview
Registered Nurse (RN) position at NaphCare, located in Union Springs, Alabama, providing health care services to inmates at Bullock Correctional Facility. The role involves performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic medical conditions, responding to emergencies, and collaborating with correctional staff to ensure patient safety and quality care.

Responsibilities

Perform initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.

Monitor and document patient health, including vital signs and medical histories.

Provide direct patient care, triage, assess patient needs, develop care plans, and coordinate services.

Manage acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.

Respond to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and facilitate timely transport to appropriate facilities.

Educate patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.

Adhere to correctional facility security protocols while working closely with officers and healthcare professionals.

Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment plans, and report relevant information.

Qualifications

Current, unrestricted RN license in the state.

Active BLS CPR certification (AHA preferred).

Knowledge of nursing practice principles, occupational health and safety, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and direct care procedures.

Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Flexible schedule with willingness to work overtime when needed.

Integrity and professionalism; adherence to a Code of Conduct and all correctional healthcare policies.

Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.

Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information.

Pass facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.

Physical Capabilities
Must stand for long periods, lift and move patients up to 50 pounds, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR while maintaining balance and endurance throughout a shift.
