Overview
NaphCare is hiring Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team of medical professionals in
Sarasota, Florida , where we manage all aspects of healthcare for individuals incarcerated in the Sarasota County Jail.
As a
Correctional Registered Nurse (RN) , you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment with security as a priority, you will have various duties including performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies. This position offers the opportunity to make a difference to a diverse population with complex medical needs.
Responsibilities
Perform initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.
Monitor and document patient health including vital signs and medical histories.
Provide direct patient care, triage, assess patient needs, develop care plans, and coordinate services.
Manage acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
Respond to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and ensure timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.
Educate patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
Understand and adhere to correctional facility security protocols while working with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety.
Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment plans, and report relevant information.
Qualifications
Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the state.
Active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, and applicable healthcare laws and procedures for direct health care services.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Able to work independently and in a team.
Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed.
Integrity and professionalism; ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.
Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary information and demonstrate integrity and professionalism in line with facility policies and legal requirements.
Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
Physical Capabilities
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR, while maintaining balance and endurance throughout a shift.
