Job Overview

This position is responsible for general Medical Assistant duties in specialty clinics. The employee will maintain supplies, provide direct patient care under the supervision of the office manager and/or physician, and assist the Customer Service Representative with clerical duties such as scheduling and filing. The employee may also be required to answer phone calls appropriately, route calls correctly, and assemble patient charts. Flexibility is required to respond to changing needs and to acquire new skills or perform different tasks in a dynamic environment.

License / Certification

Required qualifications for Medical Assistant:
Graduate of an accredited medical assistant school, or an equivalent training program.
Active national certification/registration:

Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
American Medical Technologists (AMT)
National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
National Association for Healthcare Professionals (NAHP)

Graduate of a military medical specialist course for MA diploma/certificate.
Completion/Certification of Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic training.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
Education and/or Experience

Previous Medical Assistant experience is preferred. Bilingual ability is preferred. Candidates must possess sufficient knowledge to perform patient‑care tasks and have computer experience.
Physical Demands and Work Environment Conditions / ADA Compliance

Employees may be exposed to infection during cleaning of contaminated rooms. Work occurs in a fast‑paced, changing environment. Normal or corrected vision and hearing are required, and proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing) is essential. Dexterity is needed to operate equipment. Employees may be required to walk and stand for much of the shift, lift or transfer patients unassisted, and lift up to 50 pounds. Occasional long shifts or overtime may be necessary.
