Overview
PATIENT SITTER

We are seeking a Patient Sitter, also referred to as a Patient Observer in our Nursing Administration department. The Patient Sitter in our hospital provides continuous one‑on‑one observation and support to patients who require close monitoring to ensure their safety. Sitters do not perform clinical procedures but play a vital role in patient safety and support, especially for patients with cognitive impairments, delirium, or high fall risk. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.

Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Sitter maintains constant visual observation of assigned patients. The sitter assists in the provision of a safe and clean environment. The sitter communicates observations of the patient’s activity and behavior on a regular basis to the assigned nurse, communicates professionally, demonstrates respect for patients, families/significant others, and other health care members, and offers support to peers and staff.

Qualifications
Education, Experience, Training

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.

Ability to communicate in English orally and in writing.

BLS (AHA) certification required at time of hire and remain current.
