Job Summary/Purpose
Supports Power Delivery Operations in the management of developing safety training programs, strategy, presentations, workshops, communications, policy, and rules.
Responsibilities
Work with Jurisdictional Safety Team to ensure effective implementation and creation of safety programs by analyzing audit, observation, and assessment information and applying consistent system‑wide safety processes and procedures.
Support the contract workforce: investigate contractor incidents and safety‑related issues on the Entergy System, perform field observations to assure compliance with OSHA regulations and Entergy Safety Rules and Procedures, assist Contractor Safety Department during accident investigations, and support contractor training on Entergy Safety Rules and Procedures.
Be familiar with and able to interpret OSHA regulations, providing guidance to management on their proper application in the workplace.
Minimum Requirements
In addition to specific qualifications, candidates must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, strong leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities; be self‑motivated and able to work irregular hours and out‑of‑town assignments as required.
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Desired: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Safety or equivalent work experience.
Minimum Experience
Safety Specialist I: 0‑3 years of related experience
Safety Specialist II: 4‑6 years of related experience
Safety Specialist III: 7‑10 years of related experience
Safety Specialist, Sr.: 7‑10 years with an additional 3 years of Safety experience
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent communication skills to interact with all employee levels; ability to influence and motivate a diverse workforce; strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and Entergy safety policies; proficiency with computers and related technology; ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities; strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills; ability to recognize hazards and mitigate them; ability to provide courteous and professional customer service; acceptance of a diverse and inclusive environment.
