Assistant Food & Beverage Manager
Responsible for assisting in the management of associates in the Food & Beverage and Catering departments, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with applicable policies and laws.
Job Responsibilities
Interview, hire, train associates; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline.
Address complaints and resolve problems.
Specific Duties
Assist in directing, training and mentoring all associates.
Assign duties and shifts; observe performance to ensure adherence to company policies and operating procedures.
Assist in ensuring all Owner and brand directed standards, initiatives, and programs are implemented, followed and supported.
Assist with development of sales strategies, marketing initiatives, revenue management initiatives, promotions & special events.
Assist in developing and maintaining positive business relationships with all guests, vendors and external partners.
Conduct regular physical inspections to verify standards of excellence.
Assist in developing and instituting new wine lists and cocktail menus for the Restaurant, Bar, In-room dining and Catering.
Assist in development and implementation of food menus with the Executive Chef and the Event Sales department.
Answer inquiries pertaining to policies and services.
Ensure proper shift coverage, meal breaks, and call offs.
Ensure proper cash and key control procedures.
Maintain food quality, service standards, and food sanitation.
Sell, coordinate and/or direct any private or special events, detailing number of persons, display space, menu development and scheduling.
Coordinate catering event details: number of persons, display space, food service schedule.
Ensure proper set-up, break down and safe storage for catering events.
Ensure banquet rooms are set up according to group orders.
Act as liaison between hotel and guests throughout catering events.
Ensure proper tabulation of banquet checks and review with guests.
Attend staff meetings to discuss policies, complaints, and recommend improvements.
Monitor service by speaking with guests, reviewing satisfaction surveys and observing associates.
Ensure effective departmental communication through logs, daily stand-up meetings and monthly meetings.
Perform administrative tasks: maintain inventory, department budgets, process payroll, handle accounting and purchasing functions.
Maintain up-to-date records and files.
Provide information on hours and available services.
Ensure cleanliness of Restaurant, Bar, In-room dining, Catering and surrounding areas.
Qualifications
One to three years’ experience in food & beverage operations.
Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Solid organizational, time‑management and prioritization skills.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Self‑motivated, strong work ethic and drive to exceed expectations.
