Job Description
The Access & Disabilities Resources (ADR) office at Massasoit Community College is committed to ensuring that students with disabilities have equal, effective, and meaningful access to all academic programs, community events, goods, and services provided by the college in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. As part of the ADR team, the full‑time Learning Specialist will carry a full student caseload and perform all duties and responsibilities associated with the position.

Responsibilities and Duties

Determine eligibility for protection under ADA, Section 504, and other applicable legislation.

Review and evaluate diagnostic information and documentation.

Determine reasonable accommodations and coordinate implementation.

Maintain confidentiality of student records.

Proctor student exams, including reader and scribe services.

Provide one‑on‑one learning strategy and small‑group instruction for students with disabilities.

Develop, propose, and implement policies and procedures to ensure equal access to all academic programs and courses of study.

Consult with faculty, administrators, and other campus personnel regarding reasonable accommodations and issues of disability in higher education.

Identify, establish, and evaluate program services.

Serve as academic advisor for new students and assigned advisees.

Prepare and present workshops on academic skills.

Refer students to appropriate support services and resources.

Compile reports on program activities and services.

Perform administrative tasks associated with department activities, such as maintaining a database of information relating to students with disabilities.

Provide professional development training for faculty and staff on disability awareness and legal requirements.

Support students in cultivating and using appropriate self‑advocacy skills.

Provide budgetary input.

Develop resources such as handbooks and brochures.

Use computer for standard use and utilization of software programs.

Attend meetings, college fairs, workshops, and other college activities.

Serve on campus committees and task forces to ensure disability representation.

Instruct assigned staff in performance of duties according to established standards.

Participate in new student orientations, Open Houses, and other Enrollment Management events, as assigned.

Maintain professional knowledge in applicable areas and current knowledge of assistive technology in disability services.

Perform related duties as directed.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, Counseling, Deaf Education, Teaching, or a closely related field; with three years of experience and/or training that includes college‑level learning disability services, learning disability assessment, ADA or Section 504 compliance, development of policies and procedures, teaching, or curriculum development; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Requirements

Demonstrated experience supporting students with Executive Function Disorder.

Demonstrated experience supporting students with ASD and other neuro‑diverse profiles.

Demonstrated knowledge of assistive technology.

Demonstrated experience with digital accessibility.

Additional Information
Position Status: Full‑time, state‑funded, benefited MCCC bargaining unit position.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday.

Salary: $72,265.00 – $80,813.00 annually, commensurate with education and experience.

Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
