CHHOP Mission Overview
CHHOP is dedicated to addressing housing and food insecurity through direct services, advocacy, and community engagement. Position Summary
The Development & Communications Associate is an entry‑level role supporting fundraising and communications efforts that advance our mission. This position plays a key role in telling the stories of our impact, engaging donors and supporters, and supporting development initiatives that sustain and grow our programs.
This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is passionate about social justice, storytelling, and community‑centered work. The ideal candidate will bring a readiness to learn and engage in relational style fundraising that places a high priority on ensuring donors feel seen, valued and invested in the mission.
CHHOP is recognized by its peer human service agencies, constituents, and stakeholders for its excellence in serving those most in need. The Development & Communications Associate position offers the ideal candidate to join a team of mission‑driven, compassionate professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Development & Fundraising
Support annual giving campaigns, appeals, and donor stewardship efforts
Prepare donor acknowledgement letters and assist with timely, meaningful donor communications that steward the donor base and deepen donor engagement
Maintain accurate donor records in the organization’s donor database/CRM
Assist with planning and execution of fundraising events and community engagement activities
Conduct basic prospect research and prepare donor lists and reports
Communications & Storytelling
Draft content for email newsletters, social media, and website updates
Help collect stories, testimonials, and program updates that reflect the lived experiences and strengths of the people we serve
Assist in creating communications materials such as e‑appeals, flyers, and social media graphics
Support consistent messaging that reflects CHHOP’s mission, values, and trauma‑informed approach
Administrative & Team Support
Track fundraising and communications metrics assigned
Assist with cross‑departmental and special projects related to outreach and engagement
Participate in staff meetings and organizational events
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, nonprofit management, social services, marketing, or related field
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for occasional local travel
Demonstrated commitment to equity, dignity, and the mission of addressing housing and food insecurity
Preferred
Internship, volunteer, or work experience in a nonprofit, fundraising, or communications setting
Familiarity with social media platforms and email marketing tools
Experience using donor databases or CRM
Basic design skills using tools such as Canva
