Job Responsibilities
Assist with the management of inmates with mental health concerns in restrictive housing and general population.
Work closely with mental health and security staff to perform day-to-day escort and group activities, including a hybrid of security and clinical duties.
Document and prepare written reports in accordance with mental health and security guidelines.
Assist with supervision of inmates by establishing a supportive environment promoting core SCDC values to inmates with mental health needs.
Under the guidance of QMHP, conduct psycho‑educational groups and other pro‑social activities qualified as out‑of‑cell structured time.
Assist with custody‑related duties: escorting, supervising recreation and showers, cell checks, suicide watch/constant observation for inmates in inpatient settings, residential mental health housing units, restrictive housing and general population.
Under General Supervision
Under general supervision of the Major or designee.
Training Requirement
Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
A bachelor's degree in a human services or criminal justice field.
