Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship – Neuro Critical Care (Health Sciences Clinical Professor, HSCP Series)

Full‑time, 12‑month appointment at instructor rank.
Salary and Benefits
Salary Range:
$90,000. The position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.
Salary is funded for one year by UC Davis Health Patient Care Services. The university offers a comprehensive benefits package.
Job Description
The role integrates a transition‑to‑practice clinical experience with clinical teaching activities in a structured, guided learning environment. APP Fellows will work throughout UC Davis Health and may provide services in or off the primary service area, with approximately 70% of time devoted to clinical service and 30% to professional development and teaching.
Clinical Responsibilities
Participants will develop advanced clinical knowledge, practice‑management skills, and professional behaviors through a mentored program. The focus is on strengthening advanced clinical expertise, gaining practice‑management experience, and exposing fellows to clinical teaching skills.
Teaching Responsibilities
Fellows are limited to one structured clinical education activity per week and must engage in at least one of the following:
Precepting a nurse practitioner (NP) or physician assistant (PA) student
Providing lectures to NP and PA students
Co‑leading clinical skill labs or facilitating small groups during simulations or case discussions
Delivering lectures to students or peers, teaching clinical procedures, providing feedback, or assisting with training.
Fellows will also contribute to a limited scholarly activity and committee service commensurate with the position.
Criteria
Candidates must have graduated from an accredited APP program within 18 months of the start of the program (no earlier than July 1 2025) and be fully licensed as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the state of California by the start of the program (Jan 1).
Successful candidates demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills and may have experience or a goal of clinical teaching. Evaluation is weighted toward clinical competence, teaching, scholarly activity, university service, and contribution to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Basic Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG‑ACNP) or Physician Assistant program within 18 months of the start of the program (no earlier than July 1 2025).
Master’s‑degree or doctorally prepared applicants with a postgraduate nurse practitioner or physician assistant certificate are eligible.
Additional Qualifications (Required)
Current California registered nurse, nurse practitioner, and drug/device furnishing licenses (no restrictions) OR Current California physician assistant license (no restrictions).
Completion of the Schedule II opiate prescribing course to prepare for DEA license.
National Board Certification.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Current Advanced Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred current Emergency Neurologic Life Support (ENLS) certification.
