Position Overview
The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis seeks highly motivated Master’s- or doctorate‑prepared early‑career advanced practice providers for a unique 12‑month clinical fellowship that integrates transition‑to‑practice clinical experience with structured teaching activities.

Positions are full‑time at the instructor rank in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) Series, located on UC Davis’s 140‑acre Sacramento campus, home to the School of Nursing and UC Davis Health.

Current offering: APP Fellowship – Trauma Surgery, accepting Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (AG‑ACNP) and Physician Assistants. National certification is required upon selection; fellowship is limited to 12 months, and fellows must graduate within 18 months of the program start date (no earlier than July 1 2025).

Salary Range
$90,000; membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.

Clinical Responsibilities
Participate in a structured, mentored program to develop advanced clinical knowledge, skills, professional behaviors, and practice management expertise for APPs. Focus includes enhancing clinical proficiency, gaining practice management expertise, and exposure to clinical teaching skills in a practice‑based environment that prepares APPs for independent clinical practice and roles as clinical preceptors or educators.

Teaching Responsibilities
Limited to one clinical education activity (if appropriate) with students, nursing staff, or peers. Activities include: precepting NP or PA students; providing lectures to NP and PA students; co‑leading clinical skill labs or facilitating small‑group simulations or case discussions; teaching clinical procedures; providing feedback or training assistance.

Also engage in a limited scholarly activity and committee service commensurate with the position.

Qualifications

Graduated from an accredited Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG‑ACNP) or Physician Assistant program within 18 months of program start (program completion may not precede July 1 2025).

Fully licensed as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in California (by program start date Jan 1).

Professional clinical competence and experience.

Proven teaching ability or expressed goal of clinical teaching.

Scholarly or creative activity.

University and public service experience.

Experiences with or contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion.

National Board Certification.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Current Advanced Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certification.

Preferred: Current Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification.

Completion of the schedule‑II opiate prescribing course in preparation for DEA license.
