
Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician

About the Role
We are seeking a full‑time heavy equipment Field Technician for the Central Mass area (Worcester, Leominster, Fitchburg) who will report from our Concord, NH location. The role requires a proactive, fast‑paced technician with a passion for excellence who enjoys working in a dynamic environment serving JCB, Avant, Toro and Vibroscreen.
Compensation
Base pay: $37.00–$43.00 per hour. This range does not include benefits or potential bonuses. Overall compensation will be based on geographical location, skill set, education, and experience.
Responsibilities
Complete inspections
Power wash and clean parts
Remove and install parts
Implement optional accessories
Maintain equipment
Diagnose and troubleshoot on the road
Perform testing
Conduct general repairs while on the road
Drive company truck to customer locations
Maintain the service truck
Manage inventory of onboard parts
Incorporate Alta’s Guiding Principles into daily activities
Perform other duties as assigned
Maintain consistent, reliable attendance; be ready for work at the designated start time
Qualifications
Three years of heavy equipment or over‑the‑road (OTR) repair experience (required)
Excellent mechanical aptitude with solid understanding of engine, power train, hydraulics and electrical systems
Own tools
Positive attitude and high energy
Clean driving record
Computer proficiency – Microsoft Outlook, Volvo VCADS
Intermediate language skills – ability to read, interpret and write routine reports and correspondence, and to speak effectively before customers
Basic mathematical skills – ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and apply units of American money, weight, volume and distance
Intermediate reasoning ability – apply common sense to carry out written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving various concrete variables
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands, talk/hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; occasionally sit
Regularly lift up to 25 lbs; frequently 26–50 lbs; occasionally 51–100+ lbs
Work near moving mechanical parts; exposure to fumes or airborne particles and outdoor weather conditions; risk of electrical shock, vibration; work in wet or humid conditions
