
Quality Coordinator - Histology

Labcorp is seeking a Quality Assurance Coordinator to join our team onsite in Syracuse, NY.
Overview
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00 am - 4:30 pm).
Responsibilities
Support projects and activities related to quality assurance, control, improvement and training
Project management activities as they relate to identified areas within the laboratory requiring standardization to improve the quality and/or efficiency of operations
Prepare and support the laboratory for regulatory inspections
Maintain all necessary documents and materials required for inspections
Provide backup inspection support to laboratory during inspections
Keep up with all required proficiency testing and examinations
Coordinate and track external and internal proficiency testing
Perform internal audits and prepare audit reports
Prepare recurring quality reports for laboratory operations
Stay current with all regulatory agency and proficiency test requirements
Provide proper initiation and use of Master Control forms for audit purposes
Participate in monthly Quality Meeting and compose minutes
Perform administrative and clerical duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
1-2 years of histology and/or cytology experience
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
1-2 years or more of experience in histology and/or cytology
Previous experience in quality related roles
Cytology or Histology and/or ASCP certifications
Additional Job Standards
In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
General knowledge of laboratory regulations (CAP/CLIA/ISO) and licensing requirements
Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
Experience working in a high-volume laboratory environment
Basic understanding of audit-related requirements and procedures
Working knowledge of quality assurance best practices and procedures
Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
Pay
Pay Range: $30.00 - $36.00 per hour
