What To Expect
The Metrology Technician at Gigafactory will work as a member of the Metrology group in the Quality organization. They will be assigned to operate and/or program a metrology equipment on a regular basis. The technician role will help root‑cause analysis using their metrology equipment, run part sampling, and conduct in‑process checks daily. The work requires repetitive daily tasks.
What You'll Do
Enable inspection/verification of parts and assemblies using Faro Arm, CMM, GMM and other technologies
Create measurement programs using a metrology software for SPC or investigative requests
Provide and analyze data and output reports to assist in quality improvement activities
Coordinate calibration activities and ensure that all test and measurement equipment is calibrated prior to use
Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) best practices across departments
Work with the Quality Engineering Team on continuous improvement activities, solving problems, and improving overall product quality. This may include various physical tasks from time to time with regard to moving parts and equipment.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Experience with at least one metrology software (Polyworks, Calypso, PC-DMIS or GOM, Klingelnberg GINA)
Two or more years of experience in a metrology or quality role operating and programming CMM, portable CMM, and GMM preferred, with emphasis on inspecting gear micro‑geometry
Previous electromechanical inspection background with the ability to use basic hand measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, etc.) preferred; ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings (including GD&T) preferred
Ability to give presentations and prepare technical reports
Some travel, including international travel, will be required
Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
