Quality Control / Metrology Technician
We are seeking a
detail-oriented Quality Control / Metrology Technician
to ensure that our products meet the highest quality standards through precision measurement and inspection. This role is responsible for operating and maintaining metrology equipment, conducting inspections, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in
quality control, metrology, and measurement techniques
in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
Metrology & Measurement
3D Metrology & Inspection:
Skilled in using
Romer Arm
for precision measurement and inspection.
Software Proficiency:
Experienced in
PowerInspect
for dimensional analysis, CAD comparison, and quality control.
Coordinate Measuring Systems (CMM):
Proficient in operating portable CMMs for part verification and reverse engineering.
GD&T Interpretation:
Strong understanding of
Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
for accurate inspection.
Point Cloud & Surface Analysis:
Experienced in collecting and analyzing point cloud data for accurate inspection reports.
Calibrate and maintain metrology equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
Quality Control & Inspection
Quality Assurance & Control:
Ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and industry standards using advanced metrology tools.
Conduct
first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections
to verify racecar and component conformity.
Identify and report non-conforming products, assisting in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain detailed records of inspection results, calibration logs, and quality reports.
Process Improvement & Support
Work closely with
engineering, production, and quality teams
to improve processes and prevent defects.
Required Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field is a plus).
Experience: 2+ years of experience in quality control, metrology, or manufacturing inspection.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in using CMM software (PowerInspect (preferred), PC-DMIS, Zeiss Calypso, or equivalent).
Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and precision measurement techniques.
Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and teamwork mindset.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement principles.
Familiarity with automotive, aerospace, medical device, or precision manufacturing industries.
Experience with ERP/MES quality management systems.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods and work in a manufacturing/production environment.
Capability to lift up to 50 lbs when handling equipment or materials.
Exposure to machine shop, laboratory, or production settings.
